On arrival students will be met by volunteers who will assist them in the transfer by bus from the airport to the hotel/hostel where they will have the Arrival Orientation. During the first five days, the participants will receive an overview of the entire program, orientation on the Italian culture and life in Italian families, as well as some basic language training. They will be given detailed information regarding the 3 week Art/Sculpture/Mosaic course in Carrara (it is said that Carrara is the Marble Capital of the World), on the west coast of Tuscany. NO PREVIOUS ART EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. The students will then transfer to their host families where they will stay for approx. 3 weeks.
Over the next 3 weeks, the participants will have a full program of hands on activities during the morning focused on Italian sculpture, some figure and line drawing classes as well as practicing your Italian. A couple of excursions to some points of interest have been organized for the group. Don’t forget to bring a swimsuit!
The last few days of their stay in Carrara, the participants will dedicate all their time to their host families where they will join them in all their normal everyday life and activities.
Participants will meet all together once again at the end of the program in Rome, where they will spend 3 days visiting the city and having the opportunity to evaluate their stay in Italy, together with students of various countries. The visits to the “Eternal City”, will include the amazing ruins of the “Fori Imperiali” in the centre of Rome, the Colosseum, the Vatican City, St. Peter’s Cathedral, and many other famous Roman sites of historical interest.
