Many young students find math and sciences to be very difficult and uninteresting, especially due to limited resources. However, little do they know that math and sciences are vital to our everyday lives. Help inspire the future leaders in science by creating fun activities to spark their interests and holding workshops to develop their literacy!
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Ruang Belajar Aqil runs its community service projects based on research. This program particularly focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and how it contributes to the local community’s development. You will work with a team to observe a community and engage in discussions to identify the issue to be overcome through collaboration. Gain a plethora of first-hand experience in collaborating with partner communities, as well as managing the organization in its headquarters that will surely prepare you for a competitive professional future!
PROJECT DETAILS
Before your volunteering period starts, we will first equip you with on-arrival orientation on your upcoming intercultural experience. We want to ensure you are utterly ready for your volunteering journey in Indonesia. So let’s get started!
To start off, our team will inform you about the detailed information and comprehension on the program(s) you are going to experience. Some of the materials covered are as the following: Introduction of Organizations, Managing Hopes and Expectations, Intercultural Learning (ICL) Workshop for Volunteer, Children and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy, The Basics of Bahasa Indonesia, etc. Through these orientation and workshops, we hope to help you to have more impact to the local community and help you in preparing your volunteering journey in Indonesia.
Ruang Belajar Aqil is a youth-driven sustainable development community based in Malang, East Java. The organization assists in researching market demands and facilitating learning process for underserved communities on need-based projects. This program aims to improve these communities’ technological literacy, their ability to utilize that in their daily lives, and to innovate new tools using their existing resources.
As an international volunteer, you will join this tight-knit mini-society in tackling the daily tasks of the organization, such as archiving, and making inventories. You will also take part in elementary school science fairs to spark young students’ interest in STEM, organize fun science-related events for after-school/weekend activities, assist in workshops about digital and technological literacy, and encourage our future scientists and engineers to pursue their dreams!
