The PEAK in INA 2024 training was an intensive three-day workshop held in Bali, Indonesia, from November 8th to 10th, 2024. The event brought together experienced facilitators and emerging talent from various countries within the AAI region.
Training Objectives:
To align with AFS International’s mission of empowering its network, this pilot workshop aimed to:
- Enhance Facilitation Skills: Equip participants with essential skills such as active listening, effective questioning, and group dynamics.
- Promote DEIB: Deepen understanding of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) principles and their application in facilitation.
- Foster a Collaborative Community: Build a strong network of skilled facilitators within the Asia-Pacific region.
Training Highlights:
- Core Facilitation Skills: Participants delved into essential facilitation techniques such as active listening, effective questioning, and mirroring and summarizing.
- DEIB in Facilitation: The training explored the impact of personal triggers and unconscious bias on facilitation, and provided strategies to create inclusive and respectful learning environments.
- Group Dynamics and Co-facilitation: Participants learned about group dynamics and how to effectively co-facilitate sessions with a partner.
- Practical Application: Through hands-on exercises, role-playing, and group discussions, participants had the opportunity to practice their skills and receive feedback from peers and experienced facilitators.
This training marked a significant milestone in the PEAK program. Not only did it certify new PEAK Certified Facilitators, but it also successfully launched the pilot program for PEAK Authorized Trainers. By cultivating a network of highly skilled facilitators, AFS is empowering individuals to create impactful learning experiences and drive positive change within their organizations.
This training was led by Brian Musyoki and Manuela Ramirez from INT, co-facilitated by Kuhan Kandiah Chelvanathan (MAS), Shoba Devi A Balakrishnan (MAS), Anggie Hall (INA), Farhan Hibatullah (INA), Lean Dale Igos (PHI), Madhuri NP (IND), Kimie Nagasawa (JPN), and Ayuko Katayama (JPN) to obtain their PEAK Authorized Trainer Certification.

By the end of the workshop, participants were equipped to lead effective and inclusive discussions, fostering meaningful dialogue and positive change within their respective communities. This training strengthened AFS’s commitment to fostering a community of skilled facilitators who can lead meaningful and impactful discussions, empowering individuals and organizations to achieve their goals.
