Global Choice programs operate in English-speaking Canadian provinces and allow students to pick their own schools from those operated by each school district.
The Ottawa-Carleton School District is located in Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, with a population of nearly 1 million people. Ottawa is known as a safe, clean, and welcoming mid-sized Canadian city, with access to entertainment venues, museums, amenities of a capital city, and many local attractions. Ottawa is known for its outdoor activities such as the world’s longest skating rink (Rideau Canal) and the many activities one can do in Ottawa’s 200 square km “greenbelt”, a protected green space that traverses the city of Ottawa. It also has easy access to Gatineau Park, a beautiful 360 square km national park.
Students placed in Ottawa will love the mix of city life and abundance of natural beauty. There truly is something for everyone in Ottawa! Students of the Global Choice Canadian experience will dive into the local culture, customs and language by living with a Canadian homestay family, carefully chosen by Canada Homestay Network with our input. After careful inspection and approval, homestay hosts provide students with a safe and nurturing home environment and will receive monthly compensation to cover the additional expenses they incur by hosting a student. We are proud to partner with Canada Homestay Network and the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. With their coordination and support, this experience fosters life-long learning through creative and challenging learning experiences.
