Students live with a host family and attend a local high school in order to get to know the Serbian culture, learn the language and develop interpersonal and intercultural skills. In addition to the four mandatory orientation camps (on arrival, post arrival, mid stay and end of stay), the students are offered a number of activities organized by the volunteers. The students must be prepared to learn Serbian and attend school regularly.
A The exchange students participate in everyday life of the host family. They may share a bedroom with a host sibling or they may have a separate bedroom, depending on the size of the accommodation.

Things to know

Serbs are generally very outgoing and talkative.  People eat lots of meat in Serbia – be prepared for it to be a part of nearly every meal. Generosity and hospitality are very important qualities, so plan to bring a small gift like flowers or food when visiting friends for the first time.
